SPARKS Challenge: February 9th - February 22nd

Today I'm sharing my DT card for the current SPARKS challenge. Here's the inspiration photo for this challenge:

Here's the card I made:

Stamps by Paper Smooches

I took inspiration from the peach/pink color of the heart, the pinked edge and the grey background in the inspration photo. I also liked the simplicity of only the heart on the background and nothing else, and decided not to add a sentiment to my card.
I sponged some pink distress ink onto white cardstock, cut it into a heart. I then used the same color of ink to stamp different hearts from several different Paper Smooched stampsets. I adherd the heart onto white cardstock, and cut around the heart shape with some old pinking scissors. Looking at the card now, I wish i would have done a better job with cutting around the heart with the pinking scissors. It doesn't look as good as I want it to. I guess I should have taken apart the heart and white layer, and tried again to get a better looking pinked heart. Oh well, lesson learned =) Also, looking at it now in the picture, I feel like the heart pattern in the cutout heart has some blank spots I would have liked to fill in. For the cardbase, I cut it out of grey cardstock. I then went over the cardstock with grey distress ink on a sponge, to make it look a little more textured. I then adhered the heart piece onto the cardbase using foam adhesive.

Update!

As I was looking at the picture of this card on my blog, I felt more and more unhappy with it. I decided to fix and redo what I didn't like about the card, and post a picture of the improved version. Read above to see exactly what I was unhappy with =) Here is the improved version, with new stamped heart and better cut white mat:

Lawnscaping #27

Today I'm sharing a card I made to enter into the current Lawnscaping challenge:

Stamps by Lawn Fawn

I reverse+normal stamped the dove stamp using Memento ink. I stamped two different hearts in between to look like a banner, and added a curved line. I colored the hearts with Copics, and added some light shading to the doves as well. I added some punched borders out of warm grey cardstock, and matted the image piece with the borders adhered to a piece of red cardstock using foam adhesive. I then added the matted piece onto a white cardbase using more foam adhesive.

Here's the card I made:

Stamps by Paper Smooches

For this card, I took inspiration from the movie "101 Dalmatians". I stamped the dog from the "Chubby Chums" Paper Smooches stamps set for my card. The dog has one spot on his right ear, but I added more with my black Memento marker. I then shaded the image slightly using warm grey Copic markers, colored the tongue red, and added a shadow under the dog with a neutral grey Copic marker. I matted the image onto black cardstock, stamped my sentiment on a white strip, and matted that onto black cardstock as well. For the aqua piece of paper, I ran it through my Cuttlebug with an embossing folder. I adhered the embossed piece flat onto my white cardbase using my pink atg. I then colored some tiny white pearls red, and adhered them onto the sentiment strip. Both the image and the sentiment panels was adhered with foam adhesive onto the card.

Owl Birthday Card with 2 Videos

Stamps by Paper Smooches

I took inspiration from the striped pattern of the leaves in the picture, as well as the overall color scheme. I stamped the fish and sentiment using grey JB ink, onto a piece of white cardstock. I colored in the fish with some Copic markers. For the cardbase, I cut strips of colored cardstock, and adhered them onto a white cardbase. The image panel was adhered to the cardbase using foam adhesive

Young Crafters Unite - Challenge #6

I simplified the sketch a wee bit for my card. I stamped and colored in the sheep image, and stamped the sentiment onto a strip of cardstock. I cut the one end of the cardstock strip in a v-shape. I adhered everything to a kraft colored cardbase, and added a blue button tied with twine.

I was very inspired by not only the rainbow theme, but in particular how the colors on the rainbow dress went from red to pink and back to red again. I wanted todo the same thing for my project. I stamped the little star in different colored inks, from red to pink in the middle and back to red again. I stamped the stars on a curvy line to add even more movement. I then stamped the sentiment in black, matted the image onto black cardstock, and adhered it to a white cardbase with foam adhesive.

SPARKS Challenge: January 12th - January 25th

Here's the card I made:

Stamps by Paper Smooches

I took inspiration from the fabulous red and white polkadot on the inspiration photo, along with the green details and white color. I stamped the monster onto green patterned paper and white cardstock (for the eyes and tooth), and paper pieced him together. I also added a little bit of shading to the paper pieced monster with a grey Copic marker. I diecut a banner shape, stamped the sentiment on it, and colored in the hearts. I also stamped parts of the sentiment again, colored in one heart from it, and cut it out. I then adhered that heart to the monster.
For the red polkadot layer, I punched and adhered white circles to a red base. I rounded the corners of the panel, and adhered my banner and monster onto it using foam adhesive. The panel was adhered to a white cardbase using more foam adhesive.

Today I'm sharing a card I made to enter into the following challenges:

Here's the card I made:

I made a faux chipboard label shape for my card. I stamped a zig zag pattern onto white cardstock, and diecut a label shape out of it. I then diecut the same shape three more times out of thin chipboard. I adhered all the shapes on top of eachother, making a faux chipboard shape. I edged the shape with a black marker to cover up the grey core of the chipboard. I then stamped a sentiment onto white cardstock, and cut it out in a banner-like shape. I adhered the banner to the chipboard shape using foam adhesive. I then adhered the chipboard piece to a 3 3/4" by 5" white cardbase.

Here's the card I made, using my new Lawn Fawn stampset (Critters in the Snow)

I stamped the bear, drew in a little triangle partyhat on his head, and colored him with Copic markers. I then cut him out, and edged the cut edges with ablack marker. For the card itself, I added a layer of patterned paper to a white cardbase. I "dotted on" some scattered tiny dots of Spica glitter pen on the patterned paper. I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of white cardstock, and adhered the bear to the strip. I then adhered the strip with the bear onto the card, using foam adhesive. I finished up the partyhat with a white pearl.

Young Crafters Unite - Challenge #5

Here's my card for this challenge:

I cut out a pink cardstock heart, and stamped onto it with a script stamp from Prima (discontiniued, I think). I used pink distress ink for that. I then stamped the sentiment in the same pink ink onto a strip of white cardstock, and cut v-shapes into the ends to create that banner look. Nice, simple CAS card, this one =)

Baby Shower Card

Hi everyone!

Today I'll be sharing the second card I made to enter into a challenge Lawn Fawn is having on their blog right now. They are asking for cards that fit into three seperate categories, to put in their catalog and to have in the CHA booth. I thought it sounded like a fun challenge, and there's a great prize to be won as well! Check out the challenge on the Lawn Fawn blog here.

The card I'm showing in this post, is for the category "Plus One ". I only used stamps from "Plus One" for this card. All of the supplies I used on this card are listed below =) Anyways, here is my card:

For this card, I stamped the umbrella image, omitting the smiling face on it when inking up the stamp. I also stamped a heart image onto the umbrella. I colored in the umbrella with Copic Sketch markers, and stamped a sentiment next to the umbrella. I stamped a second heart, colored it with a Copic setch marker, added 3D crystal lacquer on top, and let it dry. I then cut it out, colored the cut edges with a black marker, and adhered it on top of the heart stamped on the umbrella. For the scalloped edges, I colored white cardstock with the pink Copic marker I had used for the heart. I then punched out two borders, and attached them to the backside of the image piece. I adhered the finished piece to a white standard sized cardbase, using foam adhesive.

Sending Hugs Card

Hi everyone!

Today I'll be sharing a card I made to enter into a challenge Lawn Fawn is having on their blog right now. They are asking for cards that fit into three seperate categories, to put in their catalog and to have in the CHA booth. I thought it sounded like a fun challenge, and there's a great prize to be won as well! Check out the challenge on the Lawn Fawn blog here.

The card I'm showing in this post, is for the category "Any Critters sets and/or Hats Off to You". I used "Critters in the 'Burbs" for my card, and stamped a custom sentiment with "Jessie's ABC's". All of the supplies I used on this card are listed below =) Anyways, here is my card:

For this card, I stamped the cat image twice at an angle, so that it kind of looks like the cats are hugging eachother. I colored them in with Copic Sketch markers, and stamped a custom sentiment underneath them. I diecut the image with a nestabilities die, and cut off the top and bottom on the diecut piece to make a different shape. I matted the image piece on some turquiose cardstock, and adhered it to a kraft cardbase with foam adhesive. I love how well my idea of the hugging cats worked out, and I'm so happy with the color scheme I ended up with on this card as well =)

I'm working on another card for this challenge too, so that will probably be up here on my blog within a couple of days =)

I took inspiration from the rainbow theme this time. I stamped seven stars and stamped a smiling face inside each. I then colored them all in with Copics. I cut them all out, and adhered them in a line onto a white cardbase. I then stamped the sentiment underneath the line of stars.

Stamps by Paper Smooches

I took inspiration from the reindeer theme og the photo, as well as the red glitter noses on the photo. I stamped the reindeer in brown ink, and added red stickles to his nose. After the stickles had dried, I added a coat of Crystal Lacquer on top to keep the glitter "contained". I stamped the sentiment with borwn as well, onto a banner I had diecut out of white cardstock. I added som red pearls to the banner strip, and adhered it to the image. I layered the image onto a brown and a red mat, and adhered the whole thing onto a white cardbase using foam adhesive.

Teddybear Tag

Hi everyone!

Today I'm sharing a tag I made to enter into the following challenges:

Here's my tag:

I stamped and colored the teddybear and the candy cane with Copic markers. To get the fluffy/plush effect on the coloring of the bear, I went over the entire area, after coloring with various brown Copics, with the Copic blender. I then cut out the bear with scissors. I embossed a Norwegian sentiment in white embossingpowder onto red paper, and cut it into a banner-like shape. To make the tag, I cut lengths of silk ribbon, and colored half of them red with a Copic marker. I covered a piece of white cardstock with scortape, and added the ribbons in a diagonal pattern. I then diecut the piece with a MFT die. I punched a little hole in one end, and tied some more ribbon into the hole. I added the bear to the tag with foam adhesive, and the sentiment with some doublesided tape.

I love those glossy lights with smiling faces =) It's was so easy to add the 3D Crystal Lacquer to them, because it has a needle-sized precision tip. Today I'm sharing my DT card for the new SPARKS challenge! Here's the inspirational photo for this challenge:

Stamps by Paper Smooches

I took inspiration from the white frames with blue inside on the blue backdrop in the inspiration photo, and the yellow color of the flowers as well. I traced the inner and outer lines of a spellbinders die onto white cardstock, and cut them out with scissors and an x-acto knife. I diecut a piece of blue cardstock with the same die to stamp my image on. I stamped the bird on yellow paper several times, and pieced it together. I drew in a black line with a marker, and stamped the sentiment and the bird's legs onto it. I adhered the paper-pieced bird on top, and added a sun (stamped with the inner circle from the egg in "Wake up") and some clouds, stamped onto yellow patterned paper and vellum, in the top right corner. For the cardbase, I used a shade darker of blue, and embossed a dot pattern (HA stamp) with clear embossingpowder. I adhered the white frame onto the blue image piece, and adhered that whole piece to the cardbase using foam adhesive.

Young Crafters Unite - Challenge #4

Here's my card for this challenge:

I diecut a colorful patterned paper with a pretty die, and I also diecut a sentiment strip out of white cardstock. I stamped my sentiment onto the diecut strip, and adhered that onto the colorful diecut shape. I cut, scored and folded a white cardbase, and added lots of little dots with a black marker. I adhered the colorful shape to the cardbase using foam adhesive.

I stamped the owl, and hand-drew the branch for her to sit on. I colored it in with Copics, and embossed the sentiment using white embossingpowder. The dark blue background was sponged on with two colors of distress inks. I made a mistake with the owl's eyes, and had to fix it by covering and embossing the eyes with white embossingpowder, and adding the pupils with a black gelpen afterwards. That's why the eyes may look a bit "off" =) I also pulled out my white gelpen and did some faux stiching lines, to frame the image. To make the owl look more female, I added a tiny twine bow to her head.
I added the image to the cardbase, using foam adhesive, on an angle, thinking that it would be fun for it to look like the chubby owl was weighing one side down =)

Stamps by Paper Smooches

I took inspiration from the pattern of colored flowers with white outlines from the picture. I used four raindrop stamps from two different Paper Smooches sets, to make my flower-like patterns. I embossed them in white, and then I colored them in with different colors. I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of paper, using second generation stamping to get the grey color. Hero Arts and Lawn Fawn Christmas Card

Hi everyone

Today I'm sharing a card I made to enter into this months challenge over at the Hero Arts blog. I haven't participated in one of their challenges for a loong time! But this month there is a really fun color combination that I wanted to work with, so I decided to give it a go. Please check out this site on the Hero Arts blog for more information about the challenge! Here is the color combination you can use this month:

(The last color is meant to represent any neutral like brown, kraft or cream)

I decided to make a Christmas card using the colors, and some of mye top favorite Hero Arts stamp sets. Here's my card:

I stamped the girl/doll, colored her in and cut her out. I then hand drew a little gift for her to hold, colored and cut it out. I stamped the tree, colored it in, and added a pink star on top. I adhered both to a kraft cardbase using liquid glue. I also added som sparkle with a Spica clear glitter pen to both the star and the ribbon&bow on the little gift. I'm sorry that it doesn't show in the picture!
I needed a small greeting to fit on my card, and didn't have anything from Hero Arts that was small enough. So I used two stamps from a Lawn Fawn stamp set, and combined them to make the full sentiment. I also added some white pearls to the little gift and the tree.

Here's the card I made:

I used some watercolor paper for my cardbase. I stamped three snowflakes, and drew in lines and bows with a pen. I added a brown button onto the largest snowflake, and pearls to the smaller ones. I colored the pearls with a brown Copic to make them match the button I had used.

I took inspiration from the colors in the inspiration photo for my card this time. I used the sun's ray-stamp from "Sunny Side Up" to make a little party-hat for the penguin. I added some sparkle to the card using some rhinestones, and some shine to the penguin's beak using Crystal Lacquer =)

YCU Blog Hop - Masculine Card

We have two sponsors for this hop, Simon Says Stamp and Paper Smooches. So since I love Paper Smooches stamps, I decided to make a masculine card for this hop using stamps from Paper Smooches. Here's the card I made:

Stamps by Paper Smooches

I stamped the penguin, and colored his beak orange. I then drew in a tie and a briefcase for him, and colored them too. I added some sparkle to the buckle on his briefcase with a glitter pen, and some shine to his beak using Crystal Lacquer. I chose the sentiment Congratulations, thinking this would be a card one could give to a man who's gotten a promotion at work, gotten a new job etc. I also added more of the same colors from the image, by matting the image piece with orange and adding blue flag-shapes.

Introducing my Inspired by Pinterest Video Series!

This is my second post of the day. Please scroll down to see my entry for the Lawnscaping challenge =)

Today I'd like to tell you about my new video series that will start on November 1st, called Inspired by Pinterest! Please watch this short video to learn more about it:

I am quite excited about this new video series. I have been using Pinterest for a little while now, and I love to gather up information, inspiration and all kinds of fabulous stuff there. But I also wanted to make sure I would actually use that inspiration in my crafting. And with that thought came the idea for this video series to mind. The Inspired by Pinterest video series will start on November 1st. On that day, I will publish the first episode on my YouTube channel. In each episode, I will be taking inspiration from a pin I have on one of my boards on Pinterest. Some of my pins on Pinterest have been repinned from other people, and some I have pinned from different blogs, websites etc. I love having this online pinboard to gather up and organize all the fabulous things I find online!

If you want to check out my Pinterest boards, just click the red "Follow me on Pinterest" button in my right toolbar. Oh, and to join Pinterest, you need to be invited. So if you want an invitation from me, just leave a comment on this post with your email-adress, and I'll send you an invite. To celebrate the start of my Inspired by Pinterest Video Series, I have come up with a little guessing game for you all. Here's my card:

I used a tree stamp from Lawn Fawn, and paper pieced it using some old christmas-themed patterned paper. I added a sentiment cut from the same paper, and a strip of red patterned paper behind it using another paper from the same paperpad. The star on the top of the tree was punched out with and old EKSuccess star punch. I kept this card simple and not so cute as I usually like making my cards, as I'll be sending it in to the Card that Card carddrive, where cards for elderly in nursing homes are being collected. Young Crafters Unite - Challenge #3

For this challenge, I made a clean and simple card:

I clear-embossed the background stamp onto a black cardstock panel, and rounded the corners. I stamped the sentiment in black onto a diecut banner, and adhered it onto the panel. I then adhered the black panel onto a white cardbase using foam adhesive.

Random stuff today...

Hi everyone!
I have sort of a random assembly of stuff to tell you today. I thought it might be fun to organize everything into sections of before, now, and in the future, as everything will fit into one of those categories. I hope it will make everything organized well =)

Before
I don't know if you've noticed, but I have recently been accepted into the DT for the Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge. I was thrilled to get the acceptance email from Kim (owner and designer of Paper Smooches), and I had so much fun making my first card for the challenge. The first SPARKS challenge with DT samples was posted yesterday, and you can check it out here =)
On a non-related note, I've added some new stuff to my papercrafting wishlist lately. If you're curious as to what's on my wishlist, I now have it on a page which you can find in the menu on the top of my blog. Oh, and I've also added a new haul video to my YT channel, which you can see here.

Now
I am currently working on my card for the Lawnscaping challenge going on right now. I've been working so much with the wonderful Paper Smooches stamps lately, that I've almost forgotten about my Lawn Fawn stamps. I was looking through my sets earlier today to figure what to use for my card, and I felt like I was seeing some of the stampsets for the first time again. It was quite inspiring, I must say! I've decided that the card I'm making, will be put in a box in where I plan to collect cards for the wonderful card drive that Vera Yates and Jennifer McGuire are arranging. They are collecting holiday cards for elderly in nursing homes, in the Cards that Care card drive.

In the future
I have decided to start a new video series on my YT channel sometime soon. These next two weeks will be less busy then the last couple of weeks have been, and so I plan to start filming the series then. I don't want to say too much about the series, as I want it to be somewhat of a surprise to you all. But it will be cardmaking related, I can say that much =) So please stay tuned for that! In other news, a new Young Crafters Unite challenge will be up on Sunday. I hope you'll go check it out on the YCU blog then!

Stamps by Paper Smooches

I came up with the silly idea to dress up the monster, as if he's going out trick-or-treating himself. I drew out a tail and pitchfork, and colored his horns red for the occasion. I used distress inks and masking to create the bakcground, as well as some other PS stamps to create the spooky scene. For the black paper behind the image, I used a Fiskars textureplate with a cobweb to deboss the cardstock.

Here's my card:

I used my new Pure Innocence stamp to stamp the girl. I colored her in and cut her out. I them stamped the image once more, and used a light blue color to add some color over the rain in the image. I then used som Cryastal Lacquer over the rain and the girl's boots, to make them shiny. I stamped the sentiment, cut it out in a strip, and added a silver rhinestone. I adhered my image with foam adhesive onto a white cardbase, which I had added a kraft layer to beforehand.

Lawnscaping #19

Hi everyone!

In this post, I'll be sharing a card I made to enter into the current Lawnscaping challenge. The challenge is:

This card was actually one that I almost tossed in the trash. I didn't like the way it turned out the first time, so I added some things to it and altered it a bit, and my second attempt was at least a little bit better. I'm not too happy about it, but it's okay. I don't have time to make another card, as I have a lot of work and school things going on right now. So I'm going to go with this card even though I don't like it so much myself. Here's the card:

I didn't add a sentiment, as I couldn't see what might work for the card, theme-wise. But after editing the photos of it, I realize that this could be a anniversary card for an older couple, probably. Oh well!

Anyways, I did some reverse stamping with the hedgehog stamp, colored and cut them out. I colored the one hedghog a bit lighter than the other, to make them slightly different from eachother. I did some dry embossing on the little details of the frame, making them slightly raised from the rest of the frame, but it's not so visible in the photo unfortunantely. The frame, the hedgehogs and the little punched heart was adhered with foam adhesive.

Pink Washi Tape

Hi everyone!

In this post, I'll be sharing a card I made to enter into this weeks
Make It Monday challenge over at the Papertrey Ink blog.

The technique shown this week is absolutely fabulous! Nichole Heady shows how to make your own, custom washi tape using Scor-tape and tissue paper, and I love all of the possibilities this gives =) Check out the technique video and challenge post on the Papertrey Ink blog here!

Here's the card I made, with my own custom-made washi tape:

I instantly had the idea to use colored tissue paper for my washi tape, and so I found some hot pink tissue paper in my stash, and went to work =) I don't have any PTI background stamps, so I used some damask-type stamps from Prima instead. I'm sure you can get the same look as on my customs washi tape with the "Damask Designs" stampset from PTI as well. Anyways, all supplies except for the tissue paper, pink bling and foam adhesive I used are linked below =)

Baby Memories Box

Hi everyone!

Today I have (sort of) a bonus project to share with you. I hadn't planned to make this in the first place, but I got inspired to do so anyways =) This will be my absolute last project to enter into the current Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge, which is to take inspiration from this picture:

Here's my little box:

Stamps by Paper Smooches

Again, I took inspiration from the theme baby. I also drew inspiration from the ruffles on the onesie in the picture, and translated that into a scalloped frame on my box. This box would be wonderful to put little baby memories in, like baby's first socks, baby's first pacifier or other small baby memories =) I stamped the little bird, and drew in a diaper with a marker. The diaper-pin was stamped using a sprinkles stamp from Sugar Rush. The patterned paper I used for the top of the box, is from an old collection by My Minds Eye (Quite Contrary). I used some watercolored paper for the bottom of the box, the scalloped frame and the sentiment strip. I also used a 1" circle punch (linked below) to punch out two notches in the top of the box, to make it easier to open.

Welcome Baby Carrot Card

Hi everyone!

Today I'll be sharing a card using both regular stamping, reverse stamping and using a stamp in a unique way. This card is for the current Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge. I'm so on a roll for this challenge =) This is the inspiration picture for the challenge:

I took inspiration from the theme "baby" from the picture. Here's my card:

Stamps by Paper Smooches

I reverse-stamped the large carrot from Vegtastic to make the two larger carrots. To make the small carrot, I stamped only the outline of a stamp from Sugar Rush:

I drew in the little horizontal lines myself after stamping the smiley face, to make them fit better. I hand-drew the leaf for the little carrot as well.The little smiley face, by the way, is from Sunny Side Up:

I stamped the sentiment using Alphadot, lining up the letters on a block and then stamping them onto a strip of paper. In hindsight, I wish I had stamped the letters one by one, because I think I could have gotten them closer together by doing that. Oh well, I'll just have to remember that for next time!

Baby Rattle Shaker Card

Hi everyone!

Happy belated World Cardmaking Day! I'm sorry I didn't have a blog post up yesterday, I just didn't get to finishing a card to share with you. But I did work on cards yesterday, and today I got one done to show to you =)

This card is for the current Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge. The challenge is to take inspiration from this picture:

I took inspiration from the theme, baby, and made this shaped shaker card:

I have a quick video of the shaker card in action. I also show the inside of the card in this video:

I used thick watercolor paper for the base of this card. The shape of it was partially hand-cut and partially diecut/punched out. I had some older treat cup/shaker card toppers lying around, and used one of them on this project. I used both small white and clear pearls for inside the shaker card, from a local craft shop.

Retro Ties Card

Hi everyone!

Today I have another card to share with you, for the current Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge. This is the inspiration photo for the challenge:

For this card, I took inspiration from the twine and clothes pins in the inspiration photo, and created this card:

Stamps by Paper Smooches

I drew out three ties, and stamped the little smiley face inside. I colored them in, and cut them out. I also drew, colored and cut out six small rectangles to make the clothes pins. I adhered one rectangle on the front of each tie, and one directly behind it. I then adhered a piece of twine in between the two rectangles, to make the rectangles look more like clothespins that are actually holding up the ties. I stamped a piece of brown cardstock with a double circle stamp, using versamark, to make a background. I then adhered the twine, wrapping it around the edges, and ties onto the brown piece. I adhered the brown piece to the cardbase, rounded the corners, and stamped the sentiment.

LF Cow Mini Card

Today I'll be sharing a mini card I made to enter into the current Lawnscaping challenge:

Here's my card for this challenge:

I colored the cow in with copics, and tried to make it look sort of "scruffy". Is that even a word? Anyways, I wanted it to look less then perfect, and to have a little bit of texture. I therefore let the brown from the cow's spots bleed out to the white around them a bit. I stamped a definition stamp from Hero Arts using some white ink onto grey cardstock. I then cut it out using a nestabilities die. I cut out the cow, adhered the grey piece onto a 3x3" cardbase and adhered the cow on top.

Stitched Popsicles Card

Hi everyone!

Today I'll be sharing a card and a video tutorial with you. I'll be entering this into the current Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge, which is to take inspiration from this picture:

My card for today features a stitched image, based upon a stamp from Paper Smooches. I have actually had the idea for doing this in my head for a couple of weeks, but never got around to making a stitched card like this before now. I took pictures during the process of stitching, and made a video showing how I did it. I'll post the video below these pictures of my finished card:

I took inspiration from the colors in the picture, and used pink, green and kraft on my project. I also added white in as another neutral. After stitching my popsicles, I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of cardstock, and cut v-shaped ends with my scissors, and adhered it on top of the stitched popsicles. I added the image piece onto a mat cut from pink cardstock, and adhered that onto a kraft cardbase.

So, I just recently got my first order from DeNami Design, and I decided to use the stamp DeNami sent me as a gift (for more information on my order, check out this video) to make a tag. I'll be entering my tag into this challenge over at the DeNami Design blog:

Edited to add: I completely forgot to add my project into the Inlinkz tool for the challenge over at DeNami's blog! So I didn't manage to enter it into their challenge after all. Silly me!

Here's the tag I made:

For the tag itself, I diecut the top of a rectangle piece of white cardstock with a PTI die. I then rounded the corners that were not cut by the die. I stamped the turtle, colored it in, and cut out the image in a small rectangle. I then popped it up onto the tag using some pop dots. Lastly, I added some silk ribbon from May Arts to complete the tag.

Young Crafters Unite - Challenge #2

Hi everyone

Today I have my card for the second YCU challenge to share with you. Please go check it out on the YCU blog! The challenge this time is:

For this challenge, I made a halloween card with a fun stamp of a witch from Paper Smooches. I decorated an envelope for it using a smaller image from the same stampset. Here's my card and envelope for the challenge:

Stamps by Paper Smooches

I stamped the witch, and colored some of her in. I also paper pieced her dress and hat. I added some Crystal Lacquer to the buckle in her hat, her lips and her shoes. I matted the image onto a scalloped rectangle, and adhered that to a black cardbase using foam adhesive. I added a black outline to the envelope, and stamped three images in the bottom right corner. I colored them in, and added some Crystal Lacquer to the bubbles on each image.

Window Birthday Card

Hi everyone!

Today I have a card to share with you, that I made for my sisters birthday yesterday. I will also be entering this into the current challenge over at Hero Arts' blog =)

Here's the card I made:

I used one of my favorite Hero Arts stamp sets on this card. It has four doll images on it, and I love accessorizing them for different occasions =) I drew out a present for her to hold, and colored in her dress and present to match the patterned paper. I hardly never use patterned paper on a card like this, but I'm quite happy with how it turned out =) The sentiment is in Norwegian, and it quotes the first line of the Norwegian birthday song.

Today I'm starting a fun little thing here on my blog. My plan is to share a new Norwegian word or phrase with you every now and then. I hope you'll have fun learning some totally random Norwegian words with me =)

The finished size of my card is 3x3". I stamped the little princess and colored her with Copics. I traced the insides of a nestabilities die, and cut it out around the princess. I then mounted it onto my cardbase using foam adhesive.

Here's the card I made:

For this card, I took inspiration from the song "The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers. I made the small playing cards in photoshop elements, printed them out on white cardstock and rounded the corners. I stamped the smiley faces on seperate rectangular pieces of white cardstock, and adhered them to the middle of the playing cards. I diecut the banner, stamped the sentiment on top, and drew a line with a black marker. I adhered the playing cards to a black cardbase with foam adhesive.I slightly curved the ends of the banner shape, and adhered it with foam adhesive in the middle and liquid glue towards the ends, on top of the playing cards.

Multifold Card

Hi everyone!

Today I'll quickly be sharing a card I made to enter into the current Simon Says Challenge, which is Multifold Cards! I made a card with two interlocking flaps that come together in the middle of the cardfront. Here are pictures of my card:

Stamps by Paper Smooches and Hero Arts

To make the interlocking flaps, I cut the two flaps for the front in different widhts. The right flap is 2 1/8" wide, and the left flap is 2 3/4". I adhered half of the image piece to the left flap, so that the right flap tucks in between the left flap and the image piece.

The theme for this bloghop is celebrate the holdidays!
Here is the card I created for this blog hop:

I chose to make a Valentines Day card for this hop. I figured that probably many of the participants would make cards for Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving and other soon-to-come holidays, and I wanted to do something a bit different =) I soon got the idea for the snowman holding a love letter, and I'm quite happy with how it turned out =) I hand drew the envelope for the snowman to hold, as well as the snowy hills, using my Memento marker. The little stamped heart on the envelope is from Lawn Fawn's "Plus One" set, everything else stamped on the image is from "Making Frosty Friends". To get the snowman to hold the envelope, I first stamped his arms on an angle. I then added a second line to make the arms bent back in towards the snowmans body. I curved the snowman's body after cutting him out, and adhered him with foam adhesive to make him look more dimensional =)

Lawnscaping #17

Hi everyone

Today, I wanted to share with you a card I made to enter into the current Lawnscaping challenge.

Here's the card I made for the challenge:

I must say, I was quite thrilled when I saw that it was all about embossing this time. I have actually been thinking lately that I have so many embossingfolders that I haven't used in sooo long! This was the perfect time to use them again =)

I used the tissuebox from "On the Mend" by Lawn Fawn, but turned the smile upside down to create a sad face. I drew in that little teardrop, and then I colored in the image. I added some Glossy Accents to the teardrop, but it doesn't show in the photos. I have never been able to photograph shiny effects on my cards well. If anyone has any tips on how to get that shine to show up in the pictures, I'd love to hear! I used "Jessie's ABC's" to stamp the sentiment. Yes, I know, that sentiment may be a little bit on the edge, so to speak. I actually thought about for quite some time, but concluded that I, myself, felt that the phrase I've used is more of a widespread way of speech, then it is a curse word. I am sorry if you feel different about this, and please know that I meant no harm in using the phrase for my card today. I just basically felt like it was just the right sentiment for this card, and that it makes it more youthful.

Pumpkin Halloween Treat

Today I wanted to share a little halloween treat I made using one of my newer Paper Smooches sets, called Halloweenies. I will be entering this into the current Simon Says Stamp challenge for the Stamptember Hop and Treasure hunt, which is Everything Goes.

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share a couple of things I've been up to lately and other random stuff today. Yes, I know it's been a while since I posted a card here on my blog. I haven't had much motivation to make cards lately, but I ~~think~~ hope I'll get a couple done tomorrow. Anyways, here are some updates on me:

- I just started school again this past week. I'm studying to be a teacher, and this year I'm specializing in teaching Norwegian for elementary school students. I have school two days a week, so that leaves time for a part-time job as well as time to relax and to craft. That schedule seems to suit me well right now =)

- I just started working today. I've got a part-time job at a scrapbook/craft outlet kind-of store, which just opened in my town. If you live in Oslo, Norway like me, I hope you'll come check out the store! In the store we have lots and lots of brads and embellishments, chalk inkpads, patterned papers, Prima flowers, as well as many other things. I still haven't gotten a chance to look at everything in the store, but I've already started gathering things up that I want to buy for myself. That's the thing about working in a scrapbooking store, there's always something I see when working that is calling my name =)

- I've recently started using Pinterest, and I must say that I love it! It's such a great place to keep pictures for inspiration, as well as links to and pictures of tutorials, that I'm sure I'll love to use in my crafting =) You can check out my boards on Pinterest here.

- I am signed up for the first Lawnscaping blog hop, that will take place on September 9th. The theme for the hop is celebrate the holidays, and I'm planning on using some of my new Lawn Fawn sets for my project. I have an idea for the card in my head, that I hope will translate well onto paper =)

- We have already gotten 32 entries for our first challenge over at the YCU blog! I'm so happy that so many has wanted to join in on the fun =) If you haven't checked out our first YCU challenge yet, I hope you will do so soon. The prize for one lucky winner will be a $25 gift certificate to Simon Says Stamp!

- Last random thing I wanted to tell you about, is that I've just (today) started using the new Inlinkz Link Manager. That means I will be posting thumbnail links of all the supplies I use for future projects here on my blog. I hope that will make it easy for you to see and find the supplies I've used for each card I post on my blog in the future =)

Young Crafters Unite - Challenge #1

Hi everyone

Today is the day! We are launching our very first challenge over at the YCU blog =) I find it so exciting! Our first challenge for you is:

For this challenge, I made a happy birthday card with a Norwegian sentiment. I colored in my image using my new Copics. I just switched to Copics a little while ago, and I absolutely love those fabulous markers! Here's my card for the challenge:

Do you see that little design in the background? I tried using a background stamp to cover that area first, but it got waay to bold for behind the image. Instead, I took my Memento black marker and added tiny dots all over. I then went back with my Copics and colored on top of some of the dots. I'm very happy with how it turned out =) The sentiment, by the way, is in Norwegian, and says 'congratulations!'.

Here's my card:

Stamps by Paper Smooches

The apple is covered in clear embossingpowder so it's really shiny. I'm sorry it doesn't show up well in these photographs!

I used three stampsets from Paper Smooches on this card. The apple is from "Falling for You", the smiley face is from "Sugar Rush" and the greeting is from "Sentiment Sampler". The apple stamp I used looks like this:

I inked it up without the inner portion, and added the smiley face inside. I also excluded the line in the leaf when stamping. I colored the apple with Copics, and cut it out. I added a couple of layers of clear embossingpowder to the apple (not on the stalk and leaf). I then stamped the greeting on white cardstock, and added three little dots. I adhered the apple next to the greeting, and then I adhered the white panel to the cardbase using foam adhesive.

Smiling Christmas Ornaments

Hi everyone

Today I wanted to share a card I made to enter into the August SPARKS challenge over at the Paper Smooches' blog. To go check out the challenge, please click the graphic below:

The challenge is to make a project using this beautiful photo as the inspiration

I took inspiration from the colors and the rhinestone bling in the photo. Here's my card:

Stamps by Paper Smooches

I used the large smiley face from Paper Smooches' "Sugar Rush" to stamp on the ornaments. I colored two pieces of white cardstock with Copics to match the blue and pink colors in the photo.

I then made templates for, and cut out two of the ornaments. The last one was cut with a circle punch. I cut out some toppers for the ornaments, and added rhinestones. To make the card even more sparkling, I added some clear stickles around the edge of each ornament. I'm sorry that I couldn't really capture that sparkle in my photographs of the card!
I added embroidery floss to the backs of the ornaments, and attached them to a brown cardlayer using foam adhesive. The ends of the strings were attached to the back of the brown layer, which was then adhered onto a brown cardbase with a white layer.

Lawnscaping #16

Hi everyone

Today I have a card to share, that I made to enter into the current Lawnscaping challenge:

I must say this was quite challenging! I hardly never ever do one layer cards =) But I'm happy with how it turned out in the end. Here are pictures of the card:

I had an idea to make the stork, from Lawn Fawn's "Plus One", carry two bags, for a mom or family expecting twins. I had to slightly change the placing of the original bag to make the image look more balanced (at least to my eyes).
I made a reverse mask by cutting masking paper with a Spellbinders Nestabilities die, and placing it over my cardfront. I then stamped my image, colored it in, and masked it off. I used a handcut cloud-mask, and sponged the blue background using Hero Arts' "Soft Pool" ink. I used sentiments from the same stampset to stamp my greeting. I simply used an 's' from a sentiment on the stampset to make 'bundle' say 'bundles' instead.

Random post: My wishlist

Hi everyone!

I've just gotten back into crafting after being away from it for quite some time. So I thought it would be great to gather up a wishlist for papercrafting stuff, that I can "work on" getting to purchase. To make it easier for myself, I made two lists. One "To Get" list and one "Wishlist". Over time I'll probably move stuff from my wishlist to my to get list, as I'm ready to purchase them.

Now, I got to thinking that it would be fun to share my lists with you. There are two reasons for that. First of all, maybe you'll discover something on my list you haven't seen before, that sparks your interest.The second thing I can hope for, is that you will want to share your wishlist with me and your own blog readers as well, to create even more oportunities for people to discover new products =)

Okay, so here are my two lists:

To Get

- Grey Copics. I'll probably get three-four shades of a cool grey color and the same number of a warm grey color

- Purple Copics. I'll probably get three-four shades of a purple color

- Silver Rhinestones by Kaiserscrapbook

I'm almost out of the smallest size rhinestone in the package, and need to get more =)

Wishlist

- "Critters on the Farm" by Lawn Fawn

I love the cute cow and the fun pig and sheep in this set. And the other critters are so cute as well!

- "Critters in the Snow" by Lawn Fawn

This is an older set, but I have never gotten around to bying it. I think the bear and the penguins are really fun and versatile to create with =)

- "Fanciful Frames" by Lawn Fawn

I love how quirky and fun these frames are! And I love the nail and thread you can "hang" them on =)

- "Schoolhouse Backdrops" by Lawn Fawn

I didn't think I wanted this set when it was released, before I saw how the lines could be used to make grid backgrounds. Now I must have it soon =)

- "Friendly Robot" by DeNami Design

I don't have any DeNami stamps yet, but I think this one will have to be one of my first ones! He's so cute =)

- "Friendly Ghost" by DeNami Design

This ghost is so darn cute as well! I think he would be great for Halloween treats =)

- "Small Jack O'Lantern" by DeNami Design

I love the happy, happy face on this pumpkin =) He would also be so cute for Halloween treats!

I've just recently discovered this die, and I love the shape of it =)

I like how this ruler has holes for easy piercing, and a grid on it for perfect placement and cutting =)

Huge Thanks Card

It's been quite a while since I last posted here on my blog. In the first part of this post I will be showing a new card, and in the second part I'm sharing some exciting news =)

Here's my card:

Stamps by Paper Smooches

I used all Paper Smooches stamps for this card. The whale and fishes are from "Surf and Turf" and the greeting was stamped using letters from "Alphadot". I colored the whale and fishes in with Copic markers, cut them out, and adhered them above the sentiment I had stamped in the white panel. I left two of the fishes going out of the side of the panel, to add some more interest. I rounded the corners of the panel, and adhered it to a white cardbase using foam adhesive.

Now onto som happy news!

First of all, I'm happy to say that Britta and I have been working hard on preparations for starting challenges over at the Young Crafters Unite blog! We have been able to gather up a fabulous Design Team, and we have decided to start our first challenge on August 23rd =) We will have a new challenge on the 23rd of every month, so that means participants have good time to get their entries in. Skydiving Bunny Card

Hi everyone

I'm not sure if you've heard about this, but we experienced two horrible situations here in Norway yesterday. Living in the city where the bomb detonated feels quite surreal to me. We are all shocked, and these events have influenced us in a big way during these two days. There has been near continious news on our national tv-channel from yesterday afternoon, and we have watched the numbers of deceased people get bigger and bigger.
My sympathies goes out to everyone here in Norway that has been personally affected by these horrible situations, and also to those who may have found these events to be especially frightening.

Today, I needed a little break from watching the sad news on tv, and so I got to working on a card. I'm not sure if I really like how it turned out, but I couldn't see anything in the end that would make it better. I guess maybe my mind was not completely focused on the card. This card was made for the current Lawnscaping challenge:

Here's the card I made:

I used the little bunny from Lawn Fawn's "Critters in the 'Burbs" and the airplane and swirl from "Bon Voyage". The sentiment was stamped using "Jessie's ABC's". I made the parachutes by tracing around spellbinders circle nestabilities with my Memento marker, and adding in curved lines for the pattern on the parachute. The sentiment was diecut with the "Double-Ended Banners" die from Papertrey Ink.

Happy Birthday Card

Hi everyone

Today I have a card to share with you, that I'll be entering into a challenge. Can you guess which challenge? If you said Paper Smooches' July SPARKS Challenge, then you're right! I am absolutely loving this challenge at the moment, and I am loving my new Paper Smooches stamps as well. So, here's the challenge badge (again):

Here's the card I made today:

Stamps by Paper Smooches

This bird (a pelicane, I think?) is one of my top favorites from "Surf and Turf". In fact, he was the reason why I had to have it =) It took me quite some time to use him for the first time, but I'm so happy with how it turned out! The little gift is from "Santa Paws", and it fits perfectly in his beak. I stamped, colored and paper-pieced him and the gift, and adhered them down to the white square layer. The sentiment is from "Sentiment Sampler", and I just stamped it directly onto the white piece. The scalloped square was diecut with a nestabilities die, and adhered to the cardbase with foam adhesive.

Special Ghost Card

In this post, I'll be showing you a fun card I did with the "Sugar Rush" stampset. The first time I inked up the popsicle-stamp, I noticed that the shape looked a lot like something other than a popsicle as well...

I'll be entering this card into Paper Smooches' current July SPARKS Challenge

Stamps by Paper Smooches

I used the top of the popsicle stamp to create a fun little ghost. I added a wavy line on the bottom with my Memento marker. The eyes and the bigger "loop" for the pink bow are from "Surf and Turf".

The smaller "loop" for the pink bow is from "Sugar Rush". I drew in eyelashes for the ghost's eyes with my marker.

I had originally thought to make the ghost a real, halloween-time ghost, but I didn't have a Paper Smooches sentiment for halloween. Call me crazy, but when I use Paper Smooches images, I prefer to use Paper Smooches sentiments as well =) I was looking at my "Sentiment Sampler", saw the "you're special" sentiment, and decided to make a cute, female ghost that loves to look pretty more then she loves beeing spooky =) Talk about a special little ghost, right?
This card is smaller then a standard cardsize, it is only 4 by 2 3/4 inches. Oh, and I could, of course, have used only one of the drop-images for the bow, but I like the quirky look of the two slightly different sized loops for the bow =)

Theatre Congratulations Card

Hi everyone

Today I have another card to share with you, that I'll be entering into Paper Smooches' current July SPARKS Challenge

I made a card based on a sketch from Designer Drafts 1, which you can see here.

Here's the card I made:

I'm sorry about the crazy angle in this photo, I couldn't show the curviness of the masks in any other way...

I used the largest smiley face from "Sugar Rush" as a base for the masks. I got the idea to make masks like this when I saw the sketch I used, which reminded me of a theatre stage. I have actually done a project very similar to this before, and I'll tell you about that further down in this post. If you're not interested in reading about that, you can just stop reading after this paragraph. For the masks on my card, I made a template, traced it in pencil and drew on top with my Memento marker. I then stamped the smiley faces inside. To make the sad face, I simply inked up only the eyes first and stamped down. I then inked up only the mouth, turned it over, and stamped that below the eyes. To make the masks more dimensional, I curved them backwards, and attached them to the card using foam adhesive in their centers. I hand cut the scene curtains, and punched a scalloped edge on the top piece. I embossed the sentiment in white embossingpowder, and drew on the little black lines on the curtains with my Memento marker.

Okay, so I told you I would write about the project very similar to this that I have done before. Before, in this case, is a good couple of years ago, when I went to an arts and crafts-type of program in school. We got an assignment where we all went to see the (then new) Casanova movie, and then were asked to create our own posters for the movie. Everyone else tried their best at painting characters from the movie, but I went a different route. In one scene of the movie, Casanova goes to the costume ball with two women, having a stick with a mask on each end, one black and one white. I felt that this moment was very true to the Casanova character, and I so wanted to make something revolving around that scene. For my poster, I made a very CAS design, with the black and white masks separated by a striking red border. I was, and still am, very proud of it, and I love the striking color combination and design of it. I actually have it hanging on my wall still:

Well, when my teacher were to critique and grade my final piece, she was not at all impressed. She complained that my poster was not a work she could get anything out of, and that it was almost at the point where she couldn't grade it at all. I don't remember what she did grade it to, but it doesn't matter. Today, I feel that if the point of the assignment was to see how the students drew people realisticly, that would have to be stated as part of the assigment. I still feel that there are good design elements in this poster that she could have critiqued, and that the design works well. Now, this was not the only time I clashed with that spesific teacher. I now think it was because she had her own style and her own idea of what types of art is good and reputable, and my ideas of those was different then hers...
Well, that's my (rather long) story about the poster I made in school. As you can see, I used the same colors in my card, and I love how striking they are together! I'm very happy with how this card turned out as well =)

Warm Thoughts Card

Today I'm sharing another Paper Smooches creation with you. I made this card to enter into the following challenges:

I based my card upon a sketch from Designer Drafts 4, that I flipped upside down for my card.

Here's my card:

(that drop on the green popsicle is glossy in real life, but it doesn't show in the pictures =)

I used the popsicle-stamp from "Sugar Rush" on this card, as well as a sentiment from "Sentiment Sampler". I drew in and paper pieced some scarves for the posicles using my Memento marker. The little drop is also from "Sugar Rush". I colored the popsicles with my new Copic markers. I've decided to switch from Promarkers to Copics, and I'm very happy about it. I love how easily they blend, and all the fabulous colors they come in =)

Decorated Chocolate

Hi everyone!

Today I haven't got a card to show you, but a decorated chocolate instead =) I will be entering this creation into the following challenges:

- Paper Smooches - July SPARKS Challenge

I used a color combination of the four colors in the top right corner from this Cool Shades:

- Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes!

Here are the pictures of my decorated chocolate:

I had so much fun making the pencil for my Pencil Breakout Card, that I wanted to do so again. This time, I decided to make it a pink pencil. To see what stamps from "Surf and Turf" and "Falling for You" I used to make the eyes, mouth and arms of the pencil, please check out my post for the Pencil Breakout Card here.
The sentiment I used here, is from "Sentiment Sampler". The last 's' in the sentiment stamp has a little tail, as you can see here:

I just used my Memento Marker to make the tail longer, and adhered the pencil with it's tip at the end of that tail. I drew in lines with a thin marker, and stamped some dashed lines along the edges. That dashed line is from "Santa Paws".

I used a small circle (intended to be a bubble, I think) from "Surf and Turf" to stamp the open circles on my pencil's eraser.

The smaller dots were stamped using the ball tip of a stylus.

Hand-drawing on cards

Baby Card and Lawnscaping #13

Hi everyone

I made a card a couple of days ago, that I have completely forgotten to share! I wanted to enter it into the current Lawnscaping challenge, and realized I had to get it blogged about and entered before the challenge closes. So, the current Lawnscaping challenge is:

I also followed the sketch from the current challenge over at Sketch Saturday. This is the sketch:

Here is the card I made:

I used Lawn Fawn's "Plus One" to stamp the mobile and the little rattle on the inside. The sentiment reads 'congratulations' in Norwegian. I colored the mobile-image with Promarkers, and the rattle on the inside with pencils, as I didn't want the back of the card to have the ink from Promarkers showing through.
