Birthday Cake Card

Hi everyone

This is my second post for today. I made two cards for the current Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge, and I have made one blog post for each of them. This weeks SPARKS challenge is a Picture Perfect challenge, meaning a picture inspiration. Here's the inspiration picture for this challenge:

For this card, I was inspired by the cake/cupcake theme of the inspiration picture, and I pulled some of the colors from the picture to complete my card. I also added a houndstooth flag-shape like the small cupcake flags in the picture. All I did for this card was stamping, some masking (of the flowers) and coloring with copics. I also diecut the image and used Vicky's great technique for faux stitching on diecuts (shared at around the 2:33 mark on this video), as well as adding a small black line on each side of the cake image to ground it.

Sunglasses Card

Hi everyone

This will be my first of two posts today. I made two cards for the current Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge, and I will be doing one blog post for each of them. Here's my first card for this challlenge:

I was inspired by the look of the cake tin with the "stem", and immediately though of the cake platter stamp from "Hubby and Wifey". I was also looking at the colors, thinking they were quite summery, and wondering what I wanted to put on the cake stanmd instead of the cake or cupcakes. I went for the fun sunglasses, and decided to make the card  to look sort of like a shop with the sunglasses in the window. I stamped the sentiment onto acetate, and stamped and colored the image and background with copics (sunglasses and grey background) and distress inks (woodgrain floor part) on a white piece of cardstock. All the colors were pulled from the colors in the inspiration picture. I also extended the top line of the cake platter stamp, to make it long enough to fit all three pairs of sunglasses. The panel with the cutout window with acetate was popped up from the background to further help the look of a shop window =)

Pink Mini Card

Hi everyone

Today I have a card to share, that I made to enter into the current CAS-ual Fridays challenge. The challenge is 'pretty in pink', and I was inspired to pull out my dark pink washi tape and use it =)

Here's the mini card I made:

I covered a white piece of paper with three strips of washi tape, and punched a large butterfly out of the middle. I also rounded the corners. I then punched that butterfly again with a smaller butterfly punch. I adhered that small butterfly onto a second large butterfly, punched out of white. I added some small pearls, and adhered the panel and butterfly onto a mini brown card, using clear foam adhesive.

Mini Cupcake Card

Today, I am going to share a mini card I made to enter into the current Lawnscaping challenge, which is "Color Splash". Lawnscaping has just announced a Card Drive too - please go check it out here! It's for a great cause =)

Here's my mini card:

I stamped the little rose, masked it off, and stamped the rest of the cupcake on top. I also stamped a line to ground the cupcake. I colored the cupcake in shades of grey, and the rose in bright pink. For the rose I also added some glitter/shimmer to make it pop even more. I'm sorry it doesn't show up well in the photos. I also stamped some little circles in the outer corners, and colored them too grey. The matted image piece was adhered to the card using foam adhesive.

I actually managed to use 5 layers of paper on this card, not including the cardbase. I ususally don't do so many layers, so this was definentaly a challenge for me =) I wanted to use this whale image, since I had just made a video showing the technique I used for it. Decorated Card Holder

Hi everyone

Quick post today, just wanted to share my entry for the current Simon Says Stamp challenge - Anything but a card. I have a card holder that I use, which I had decorated a couple of years ago. I decided it was time to change the decoration for something more modern and stampy (if that's even a word =). Here's how the card holder looked with the old decoration (I added the brown dot to the picture of the card holder for privacy reasons):

And here's how it looks after I decorated it this time:

I stamped the image in pink ink, punched a circle out of teal patterned paper, adhered it overtop and added a few tiny grey dots. I added a layer of plastic film over the whole piece to keep it all clean and easy to wipe of, since it will stay in my purse and get used often =)

Girl Alien Card

Today I am going to share a card I made, to enter into the current SPARKS challenge

Here's the card I made:

When I saw the colors for this challenge, I immediatley thought of them as somewhat girly colors. I still remember the first time I stumbled upon the pink/yellow color combo in school, and actually made a mental note about how well they worked together and how girly they looked. Back then, the painting I did was using light/vibrant yellow and hot pink, but still, this SPARKS color story made me think of it. So I decided to do something girly. Then I was thinking about what image to use the yellow on, and the little alien from Paper Smooches' "Little Fella" came to mind. By adding a bow, I easily turned that boy alien into a girl alien. So fun =) I stamped everything on colored cardstock, cut it out, and paper pieced it together. For the planet the alien is standing on, I colored white cardstock with purple and blue ink, cut it out with a circle die, and debossed it with a dotted embossingfolder to look like craters on the planet. The planet and alien were adhered to a white cardbase using foam adhesive.

I completely forgot that I was going to enter this into the current Bunny Zoe's Crafts challenge too! Their challenge is all about girls, and hopefully this girl alien will qualify =)

Masked Sentiment Card

Here's the card I made:

I was so happy with how well this card turned out =) I first got the idea to use circles around my bordered sentiment, after using the middle circle stamp to make some color combination cue cards for myself earlier today. When I then saw the colors on the shoe from the Runway Inspired challenge, I felt that they would be perfect for this card as well. I stamped the sentiment in purple, masked overtop of it with a straight strip of masking paper, and stamped three sizes of circles overtop. I then peeled up the masking paper strip, and this one layer CAS card was all done =)

Baby Card with Lamb

Hi everyone

Today I have a card to share, that I made for a friend who's just recently had her first baby. I also made the card to enter into the following challenges:

Here's the card I made:

I was inspired by the kind of vintage feel and soft colors of the inspiration board, as well as the patterned paper challenge when making this card. I also wanted it to fit the baby theme, so I found some waaay old patterned paper in my scraps, and cut it into a square with zigzag scissors (also waaay old =). I stamped the lamb from Lawn Fawn using brown memento, and colored in the face, ears and legs with copics. I added some faux stitching to the other parts of the lamb, and along the sides of the patterned paper, hoping to give the project a look of faux fabric or something like that. I decided not to add a sentiment, as I couldn't find a Norwegian one in my stash that worked. I adhered the patterned paper flat onto a white cardbase, and added the lamb image piece on top using foam adhesive.

Cow Birthday Card

Hi everyone

Today I have a card to share, that I made to enter into the current Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge. this week it's a trend watch challenge, and this is the inspiration picture:

Here's the card I made:

I stamped the cow with a party hat, and used some tiny waterdrop stamps to create the topper for the hat. I stamped them in a fan-like configuration, to make it look like a fluffy hat topper. I cut the cow out, and adhered it to a white piece of paper with the partyhat going outside. I adhered the image piece, using foam adhesive, onto a fun patterned paper with some bright, cheery colors that really says "birthday" to me =) I then adhered the patterned paper to a black mini cardbase.

Blue Alien Card

Hi everyone

Here's my card:

Here's a quick video to show the glittery stars on the card



I stamped, colored and cut out the alien image. I used the copic blender to make the dotted texture on the cute alien. I drew a curved line on the background piece, and colored the ground and sky with copics. I added a line of black washi tape to a white cardbase, and a piece of yellow patterned paper too. For the sentiment, I stamped 'he' from a sentiment saying 'hey dude', and added an 'i' to make it a Norwegian sentiment (hei = hey/hello). I embossed some stars in holographic embossingpowder, cut them out, and layered some mini punched stars overtop.
