How-to explanations or not?

Hi everyone

Today I wanted to ask you, my readers, for some feedback on how I write my blogposts. Specifically I would like to know if you like/appreciate the fact that I always write about how I made the project shown. I am thinking about making a change with that, and eliminating the how-to from my future blogposts. I am planning on only writing an explanation on how I made something, if it was done with a spesific technique, or if something else on the project is not self-explanatory.

Make A Wish Birthday Card + A Tag

Hi everyone

Today I have a card to share, that I made to enter into the current Lawnscaping Challenge. 

I took inspiration from the layout of this card by Kasia Curry. I was also inspired by something Kelly Marie said in the introduction video for the Critters Ever After stampset. She mentioned that the 'make a wish' sentiment in that set would be great for birthday cards too =)

I'm also entering this card into the current Cute Card Thursday challenge, which has an everything goes theme.

Here's the card I made:

I stamped the greeting from Critters Ever After, the cake and the candle from Bake Me A Cake onto white cardstock. I then masked off the outsides of the cake, and stamped the star cluster from Critters Ever After onto the cake. I colored it in using Copic markers. The cardbase is 4 1/4" by 3 1/4 when folded. I cut a strip of patterned paper and adhered it to the cardbase. I then adhered the image on top using foam adhesive.

I totally forgot to share this little tag that I also made for the Lawnscaping challenge! Silly me =) The tag was inspired by this card by Jessica Witty.

I stamped the image and sentiment onto some white bazzill cardstock, and colored in the airplane with yellow Copic markers. I then drew in the dotted line with a pen. I cut off the two top corners, and punched a hole. I then threaded throught some cute pink May Arts ribbon I had in my stash.

Young Crafters Unite - Challenge #8

Hi everyone

Since the challenge this time is sewing, I decided to do some stitching, using an egg stamp as my templates. I did that in the same way I did the popsicles on this post. I stamped the sentiment in purple, and colored some white pearls with a purple Copic to match too. The patterned paper is from an old 6" stack. I rounded all of the corners on this card, which I normally don't do, but I thought it went well with the soft colors and rounded look of the egg images on the card.

SPARKS Challenge: March 22nd - April 4th

 Stamps by Paper Smooches

I was inspired by the easter theme of the inspiration photo, as well as the bright green, white, hot pink and yellow colors. I stamped a sentiment and two colors of a pattern onto white cardstock. I then made a negative mask of the egg stamp, and used placed it over the sentiment/patten where I wanted it to go. I traced lightly with my pencil, and cut out along that line. I cut a piece of blue cardstock, and added a grassy border I had cut out of white paper that I had colored green. I then adhered the eggs behind the grass with liquid glue, and popped them up on the top with foam adhesive. I embossed my white cardbase, and adhered the image panel onto the card using foam adhesive.

Here's my card:

I colored white paper with various colors of Copic markers, and diecut the pieces with a button die. I love the dies in this button die set, because they cut and emboss the paper to look more like a real button then just a plain circle with holes in the middle =) I adhered them onto a white piece of paper, and stamped a greeting with black ink. I matted the piece onto black cardstock, and adhered the whole thing onto a white cardbase using foam adhesive. I love how clean and graphic this turned out, and those colorful buttons make me happy =)

Lucky Clover Card

Today I have a card to share, that I made to enter into the current challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp challenge blog. The challenge is to use green in honour of St. Patrick's Day.

Here's my card

I had been thinking about making a lucky four leaf clover out of heart stamps for a while, and finally found the perfect project to put my idea into action with this card. I also saw today that Kelly Marie had done the same thing with a Lawn Fawn heart, and used that on a tag that she made and posted on the Lawn Fawn blog. It's so fun that we both saw that possibility for the heart shape =)

For my card, I used a heart stamp and a sentiment from Paper Smooches. I stamped the heart four times, drew a stem for the clover with my Memento marker, and stamped the sentiment too. I colored in the clover with some green Copic markers. I diecut a scalloped shape twice out of thin cardboard, and once out of white cardstock. I then colored the white cardstock piece to match the green clover. I adhered all three pieces of the scalloped shape together to make a faux chipboard piece, and went over the cut lines with the green Copic marker to cover up the raw chipboard edges. I adhered the faux chipboard onto a small black cardbase, and adhered the image piece on top using foam adhesive.

 Stamps by Paper Smooches

I was inspired by the flower wreath element on the inspiration photo, as well as the kraft base. I used three small flower stamps and a small drop shape, to stamp my wreath. I cut down the image to a square panel, and rounded the corners, before adhering it to a kraft cardbase.

Here's my card

I used a new paper stack, an old stamp set for the chick, and some 'medium old' stamp sets for the sentiment. On the chick stamp, the pupil in the right eye is actually towards the right edge of that eye, but I wanted it towrds the left edge instead. After stamping the chick, leaving the 'unwanted' pupil on the right eye clean of ink, I drew in a dot for the pupil where I wanted it with my Memento marker. I then colored in the chick using Copic markers. For the sentiment, I stamped the 'welcome' first, which is from one stamp set. From another stamp set, I selectively inked a sentiment that was originally spelling 'baa-thday' a couple of times, and stamped the word baby. 

I made a standard size white cardbase, and adhered some pink polkadot pattern paper onto it. I then cut out a banner-type shape, and adhered it to the back of the image panel, which I had rounded the edges of. I then cut out some tiny circles of paper I had colored with one of my Copic markers, and adhered them to each side of the image panel. I finished the card by adhering the image panel+banner shape to the card using foam adhesive.
