New Video Up & Giveaway

Hi everyone

Today I have two things to share with you. Firstly, I’ve uploaded a new video to my YouTube channel. In this video, I’m showing you a product I got just recently, but that I now (almost) can’t live without in my papercrafting. It’s the Memento Tuxedo Black marker. Yes – it’s just a marker, you might say. But to me, it’s kind of two markers in one. Before, I used two different markers in my stamping,- one for drawing out elements and another for coloring the cut edges of stamped images for paper piecing. But with the Memento marker having two different tips, it’s now the only marker I need =) Oh – and I love how easy it is to selectively ink parts of a stamp using this marker!! Lawnscaping #8

Hi everyone

So today I'm (finally) going to share with you my entry for the eight Lawnscaping challenge. The challenge is:

It sure did take me quite some time to get this done! From the idea forming in my head, through various trial and error, through agreeing with myself that I had found the best solution all the way to finishing the card up, it probably took me about 4 or 5 days. But now it's all done!
So, without further ado, here's my card:

I used my new Critters in the Forest set to stamp the cute racoon. I stamped him twice, and colored one in with warm grey Promarkers. On the other one, I drew out a little outfit for him with stripes, meant to make the racoon resemble a (cartoon-ish) thief =) I also colored his "mask" in with the same cool greys as I did the stripes in his outfit. I cut everything out, and adhered the outfit onto the racoon using white glue. I cut up two little pieces of paper, adhered them together, and then adhered them to the backside of the "mask". I then adhered the mask onto the racoon, putting the glue on the small pieces of paper I had adhered to the mask. I did this to get the mask lifted just a little bit off of the racoon itself, but not as high as it would be had I used foam adhesive. I typed the greeting on my computer, printed it out, and stamped the polariod frame from Say Cheese on top. I cut out the inside&along the outside lines of my polaroid frame. I drew out some hills on a piece of white paper, and colored in the hills using some Shabby Shutters distress ink. The sky was colored in with a blue Copic. The clouds were stamped with a stamp from an October Afternoon stamp set, cut out&adhered to the sky. The sun peeking out from the one cloud, is the little smiley-face stamp from Say Cheese. I saw this post on Ruby's blog, where she had used the smiley face like this to make a sun. Thank you Ruby for showing that!! I stamped the little heart from Bake Me A Cake, colored it, cut it out and adhered it to the racoon. I added a coat of Glossy Accents to it, to give it some shine. Here's a closeup of the shine on the heart:

I adhered the cutout polaroid frame onto the landscape using foam adhesive. I clear-embossed the heart backgroundstamp from Teeny Tiny Backdrops onto a black piece of paper, and adhered that to a white cardbase. I then adhered the whole frame onto the card, tilted to the one side.

Flying Monster Card

Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Card for a child

Here's the card I made:

I used the monster stamp from the Paper Smooches stampset called "Falling For You". I stamped him on some old American Crafts patterned paper, without his arm. I then stamped the arm twice on the same patterned paper. I cut out the monster and both arms, and adhered them together. I also stamped&cut out his eyes and horns, on white&green, and paper pieced them on top of my monster.
I then cut out some balloon-shapes from colored cardstock. I used some different Promarkers and distress inks on white or colored cardstock, to make the colors match as closely as possible to the colors from the patterned paper. I added some twine to the back of the balloons. I also tied some twine around the monster's belly. The monster and balloons were adhered to the background using foam adhesive. I then colored&cut out a grassy hill and some tiny trees, and adhered them to the bottom of the blue layer. I cut out some clouds from white cardstock, and adhered them to the blue layer as well.

Thinking Of You Card

Today I'll be posting twice, so be sure to check out both blogposts =)
In this post, I'll be showing a card I made for the Make It Monday challenge from Papertrey Ink. This is my first time participating in this challenge =) I'm sort of a PTI newbie, but I really like their dies. And when I saw that the Make It Monday challenge this week was to use dies as masks, I immediately wanted to join in =) EDIT: I went back to the Inlinkz list for this MIM challenge today (monday) and my link wasn't there. Not sure how that happened, but I seem to remember that when I had put my link on there, I didn't double-check that my thumbnail-image and link was on there... So I guess I didn't participate in this weeks MIM after all =)

I'll also be entering this card into the current Totally Gorjuss challenge, which is to not use any patterned paper.

Here's the card I made:

I used some flower dies from PTI to mask off, sponge inside and stamp on top of. I used a flowerpot&stem image from PTI's Everyday Button Bits, and a small leaf from the same set. For my greeting, I used a sentiment from Hero Arts' Essential Messages. On the flowers, I also stamped a background-stamp from Hero Arts, called Happy Definition.

Easter Gift Box With Cute Monster

Hi everyone

Today I want to share a gift box I've made for a friend. I'm going to give it to her for Easter =) Hopefully she doesn't check my blog, so that the surprise isn't ruined!
I am also going to enter this into the The Gift Wrap Challenge over at the Moxie Fab World blog =)

Here's my creation:

I simply made a box out of white cardstock. I put three small cards in the back of some goodies and a set of three small cards, and wrapped it up in clear cellofane. I then put it in the box. Here are the three small cards I put in with the goodies:

To decorate the box itself, I colored some white ribbon with Tumbled Glass distress ink. I adhered a lenght of the ribbon around the box. I also used some of the ribbon to tie the cellofane on top. The über-cute monster stamp is from Paper Smooches, from the set called "Falling For You". I stamped it omitting the monsters hand first. I then stamped the hand twice, making it look like the monster is holding something. I used a stampset from Lawn Fawn called Teeny Tiny Backdrops to stamp the pattern on my monster. I drew out an egg, and stamped the pattern on it using the nut.stamp from the same Paper Smooches stampset. I colored it in and cut it out. I also drew out a bow for the egg, and colored and cut it out as well. I adhered the bow to the egg, and the egg to the monster, so that it looks like he's holding the egg. I added a rhinestone to the center of that bow on the egg as well. I adhered the monster to the box using foam adhesive.

Lawnscaping #7 - My second entry

Hi again

So, this is my second post today. In my first post of the day, I showed the first card I'm entering into the 7th challenge over at Lawnscaping. In this blogpost, I'll be showing the second card I'll be entering into the same challenge. So, the Lawnscaping challenge #7 is:

I'm also entering this card into the current challenge over at Simon Says Stamp Challenge. That challenge is to use spring colors on your project (or you can choose to make an easter creation).

This is the card I made to enter into these two challenges:

I used some spring-like colors and some lovely flowers to get the dress looking like it's fit for spring =)

I used one of my newer Lawn Fawn stampsets for this card, the "Sew Lovely" set. I first stamped the dress onto some scrap paper. I put a piece of masking paper on top, and traced out the shape of the dressform itself. I then drew on a dress-shape. I cut out the dress shape from the masking paper. I then went on to make my patterned paper for the dress. I used the row of three flowers from the set. I stamped them out in rows onto white cardstock, using black Memento ink. I then colored the flowers using Promarkers. To cut out the dress-shape, I first put the dress I had cut out from the masking paper on top of my patterned paper. I traced around the shape using a pencil. I took the mask off, and went over the pencil-lines with a Copic Multiliner. I like whatever I cut out, that will go on top of or together with a stamped image, to have the look of being a stamp itself with that black outline, so that's why I didn't just cut out the shape after tracing it with my pencil. I also stamped and cut out the top portion of the dressform, the neck and shoulders-part. I colored that in as well using a Promarker. I then adhered the dress to the neck and shoulders-piece.

For the card itself, I cut out a label from a Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Eight die using white cardstock. I then hand-cut out a slightly larger label from black cardstock, and adhered the two together. I stamped the dressform onto the white layer, being careful not to ink up the part of the bow on the original stamp that sticks out of the dressform. I colored the "feet" in with a Promarker, and adhered my dress and shoulder-piece on top. I drew in some black lines on a square, white cardbase, and then I added my image to the cardbase using foam adhesive. I had a lot of fun creating the spring dress on this card, from stamping and coloring to make my own patterned paper, to drawing out and deciding on the shape for the dress =)

Lawnscaping #7

Hi everyone

Today I'll be sharing a card I made to enter into the current challenge over at Lawnscaping.

This time the challenge is to make your own patterned paper using stamps. For my card, I used all Lawn Fawn stamps, exept for the sentiment, which is a Norwegian sentiment stamp. Here's my card:

I used three different Lawn Fawn stampsets for this card. The robot is made using mostly "Bake Me a Cake". The robot's little star-buttons/bolts are from "Plus One". His hands and feet are made by selectively inking parts of the bubbles-stamp from "Critters In The Sea". I also used a Copic Multiliner to draw in a couple of straight lines. The robot's legs, arms and antennas were made with a candle-stamp from "Bake Me A Cake". The robot was colored with Promarkers. I stamped the Norwegian sentiment (which says Happy Birthday") in black Memento ink. I added a bumpy line above the sentiment, and adhered the robot with his feet on the line. I rounded the top two corners of the white piece with the robot on, and sponged the edges with "Broken China" distress ink.

I used two different star-stamps to make my patterned paper. The larger star is from "Bake Me A Cake" and the smaller star is from "Plus One". I stamped out the larger star in a polkadot-pattern of white cardstock, using "Shabby Shutters" distress ink. I then filled in the pattern with the smaller star, stamping it in "Broken China" distress ink. I adhered this stamped mat onto a black cardbase, and then I adhered the piece with the robot on top using foam adhesive. If the sentiment wasn't as long as it is, I would have made that white piece smaller, and added a black mat behind it. It seems a bit lost against the stamped, patterned paper behind it... Oh well - maybe I'll print out a sentiment, and make that piece with the robot be smaller and with a black mat, but that will have to be at a later time =)
