Spring or Easter Card

In this post, I'd like to share a card I made just today. I made it to enter into the following challenges:

So, here's the card I made today:

I used my first ever Greeting Farm stamp on this card. The stamp of this lovely girl with a basket full of eggs is called "Easter Anya". I stamped her with black Memento ink and colored her in with Promarkers and Copics. I then cut her out. The patterned paper on the card is from an (old, I believe) stack og 6x6" papers from Kaisercraft, it's the "La-di-da" collection. I cut down one of the papers, and punched the top using my EK Success Round Binding Edge punch. I distressed the edges of the patterned paper ever-so-slightly with a distressing tool, and added a little bit of Antique Linen distress ink. I adhered the cutout girl to the patterned paper using foam adhesive on her body and head, and liquid glue on her feet. The patterned paper was then adhered on an angle to the brown standard sized cardbase, using foam adhesive as well.

Second submission for Lawnscaping #6 challenge

Today I wanted to share a card I made to be my second submission to the current Lawnscaping challenge:

I was lucky enough to get a Lawn Fawn set for my birthday from my brother, and it just arrived the other day. I immediately had an idea of a card for this challenge using it, and this is how the card turned out:

For some reason the card doesn't look square in these pictures. But believe me - it really is square in real life =)

I chose white and light grey for my neutral colors, and pink for the pop! The stamp set I used was "Sew Lovely" from Lawn Fawn. I stamped out the mannequin on a piece of copy-paper, and drew on a weddingdress. I then cut it out to make a template, and traced in onto some white cardstock, using a black Copic Multiliner. I cut out the dress, following the lines I had drawn with the multiliner. I stamped out the top of the mannequin, omitting the top line of the dress that's part of the stamp, onto light grey cardstock, and cut it out. I then adhered the weddingdress I had made, onto the top of the mannequin. I drew out a "belt" for the dress, and stamped the separate bow from the Sew Lovely stampset on the right side of that belt, on a pink piece of paper. I added a little white pearl (by KaiserCraft) to the center of the bow. I then cut it out, and adhered in onto the dress. I also stamped the bottom of the mannequin, the 'feet', onto the same light grey cardstock as the top of the mannequin. I cut it out, and adhered it to the back of the bottom of the dress. The dress was adhered to the label, cut with spellbinders, using foam adhesive. I drew in a black line with dots on the label to give it a bit of an added touch. The label itself was adhered to the square, white cardbase with foam adhesive as well.

the pen is mightier than the sword...

Hi everyone


So, today’s post is different from (probably) anything I’ve ever posted on my blog before. It is a reflection on the impact our words can have on other people. You see – I got an email today from another blogger, letting me know that I had written a comment on another womans blog, about one of her cards, that had read like it was meant to be critical or mean. I felt really sad when I read the email I received, as I realized that not only had I expressed myself poorly, I may have also hurt someone’s feelings. It was at that moment I really realized why they say that ‘the pen is mightier than the sword’.

The lady who emailed me referred to a specific comment, and I was happy to be able to go back to that and leave the woman who had made the card, another comment, explaining what I had meant to say, and apologize for it. I hope she will see that new comment, and see what I had meant to say.

I also got to thinking about something after this all happened. A while back, here in Norway, there was a thing in the media about how rude and ugly people are to each other online. I remember thinking how happy I was to have found, and be able to be a part of, a community online that was not like that at all. I feel that the scrapbooking/cardmaking/papercrafting community online is so positive, and that it is a gathering of a lot of really nice, happy and positive men and women.

I feel so sorry to have published a badly written comment, making a black mark (I think that would be a fitting saying?) on this wonderful papercrafting community online. I hope I have apologized to whoever may have been affected by any poorly written comment I’ve made, and that that makes it a little bit better. I cannot undo it, but at least I can apologize for it. I’m happy to have gotten a chance to do that.

I guess I also wanted, with this blogpost, to ask you all to please pay attention to what you write when you leave comments for people on their blogs. I was lucky enough to have it pointed out to me that I had written a bad comment, and was able to go back and apologize. I wish I had taken more care when writing that first, original comment, so that I had not published a comment that read critical or mean.

I hope to never publish another comment like that anymore. I will be sure to pay much more attention, and think more about what I want to say in a comment, in the future.

Lawnscaping #6

Hi

Today I'd like to share a card I made to enter into the following challenge over at Lawnscaping:

This challenge sure was challenging! After I had thought of the stamps I wanted to use and the image I wanted to make, I stumbled upon the challenge of choosing the one color for my color splash. I tried out different colors, before landing on the pink I used on this card:

I embossed the envelope with clear embossingpowder, to make it pop even more:

I used two Lawn Fawn sets for this card. I used the next-to-smallest cake layer from "Bake Me A Cake" to stamp out my envelope. I drew in the botton line and the v-shape with a Copic Multiliner. I drew out the computer-screen with the same marker. The image was colored with Promarkers. I had a little 'oops' on the envelope when adding the clear embossingpowder, and so I stamped&cut out a little star from the "Plus One" and stuck it over my little mistake. I rounded the corners on a white piece of cardstock, and added it to a black cardbase. I added the computescreen to the white panel using foam adhesive.

Lawnscaping and Wee Memories challenge

I created this card for these challenges:

I stamped two crabs from the "Critters in the Sea" Lawn Fawn set, one of them reversed, and added a gift in the one's hand. The Happy Birthday greeting is from the "Bake Me A Cake" Lawn Fawn set. The sun is from a My Cute Stamps set, called "Cheer Up".
Now, the Lawnscaping/Wee Memories challenge calls for something cute and cuddly. Now, I'm not sure if I would call these (hermit) crabs cuddly, but they sure are cute! So hopefully, this card will be okay anyways =)

Sneak peek

Hi everyone
Today I wanted to share with you a little sneak peek. I have been lucky enough to get to make a card and blogpost for Kreative Fornemmelser's blog. Kreative Fornemmelser is a danish online store, who has both Hero Arts and Lawn Fawn stamps. They're about the only good retailer for those companies that I know of, here in Scandinavia. When they started taking in Lawn Fawn a little while ago, I purchased the "Plus One" Lawn Fawn set from them. I asked the owner of the store, Pia, if I could make a card for her to put on her blog, using that set. She said okay, and on I went! The blogpost I made for her will be on her blog tomorrow, so be sure to check that out! But for now, I thought I would give you just a little sneak peek of my card for that post:

I got a comment from Agnieszka here on my blog the other day, telling me that she had given me a blog award. I was so happy to hear that, what an honour! Monster Birthday Card

Hi!


Today I am sharing a card I made with a new stamp set of mine, from Paper Smooches. The set is called Falling For You, and I love the monster and the bat on it =) The card I’m showing today, was made to enter into the following challenges:


Cute Card Thursday – Birthday Card (with an added challenge of making a birthday card for a 3-year old)

Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday – Spring or Green theme (I chose to use green on my card)

I’ll also be entering this card into Paper Smooches' search for a guest designer.




Here’s the card I made:

I used the monster from the stamp set for my main image. I stamped the monster without his hand first, and then I stamped his hand again on an angle, to make him able to hold the gift. To see how the monster’s hand originally is on the stamp, look here. I drew the gift with a Copic Multiliner. I colored the monster, the gift and the background with Promarkers and Copics. I cut the monster and the gift out, and adhered the gift onto the monster. I drew in a line on the background as well with the Copic Multiliner, to make the ground, and added the cutout monster onto the background. I used nestabilities for the circles and scalloped circle. For the polkadotted-star pattern on the white cardstock I used Lawn Fawn’s Teeny Tiny Backdrops. Also, I don’t think it’s visible in the photo, but the green scalloped circle with the image on, was popped up from the black circle behind to add some dimension to the card. The finished card measures 3 1/2” square.

Lawnscaping Challenge #5 - 3rd card

I used Critters in the Sea and Bake Me A Cake. The boat itself was made with the largest and the smallest cake layers from Bake Me A Cake.

Lawnscaping Challenge #5 - 2nd card

So this is the second post of the day, with my second card for the current Lawnscaping challenge:

I used Bake Me A Cake to make my houses on this card. I totally went with the fun, doodle-style, and wasn't too careful when drawing the doors, windows etc, or when coloring. I think it turned out quite fun =)
I also used Jessie's ABC's to stamp the sentiment.

Lawnscaping Challenge #5 - 1st card

Today I'll be posting three blogposts, one for each of the cards I'll be entering into the fifth challenge over at Lawnscaping. When I first saw the challenge I immediately thought "this is right up my alley!". That was because the challenge is to do something I love to do:

I had several ideas for what I wanted to make, and here's the first card I did:

I used Critters in the Sea and Jessie's ABC's on this card, which I thought would be perfect to give to someone to wish them luck in a cheerleading-contest they'll be competing in =)

I used some vellum and blue cardstock to make the background for the image of the fishes making their pyramid. I also used some bling in the corners. The fishes were stamped with black Memento ink, and colored in with Promarkers.
